1. Introduction
SmartFeed (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the SmartFeed application available at smartfeedshop.com and through the Shopify App Store. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Shopify Store Data
When you install SmartFeed, we access the following from your Shopify store:
- Product catalog data: titles, descriptions, images, prices, variants, and product metadata
- Store information: store name and domain
We do not access customer data, order data, or financial information from your Shopify store.
2.2 Google Account Data
When you connect your Google Merchant Center account, we request access to:
- Google Content API for Shopping (content scope): to manage product listings in your Merchant Center account
- User email address (userinfo.email scope): to identify your account and display your connected Google account
OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens are stored securely and are never shared with third parties.
2.3 Usage Data
We collect standard usage data such as pages visited, features used, and error reports to improve the service. Error data may be sent to Sentry for monitoring and debugging purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Product Sync: We use your Shopify product data to create and update listings in Google Merchant Center.
- AI Validation: Product data (titles, descriptions, images, prices) is sent to Groq (running Llama models) for automated validation and optimization suggestions.
- Store Audit: We analyze your product data against Google Shopping policies to identify compliance issues.
- Analytics: We aggregate usage data to provide you with sync status dashboards and insights.
4. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure
SmartFeed’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use Google API data to provide and improve the SmartFeed service (product sync and Merchant Center management).
- We do not transfer Google API data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service (i.e., sending product data to Google Merchant Center).
- We do not use Google API data for advertising or to serve ads.
- We do not allow humans to read Google API data unless authorized by the user, required for security purposes, or required by law.
5. AI Data Processing
Product data is sent to Groq’s API (running Llama large language models) for validation purposes only. Specifically:
- Only product data is sent (titles, descriptions, prices, image URLs)
- No personally identifiable information (PII) is transmitted to AI services
- AI-generated validation results are used to improve your listings and are not stored by the AI provider beyond the request
- You can use the product sync features without AI validation if preferred
6. Data Sharing
We share your data only with the following services, and only as described:
- Google Merchant Center: product data is synced to your Merchant Center account as the core function of the service
- Groq: product data is sent for AI-powered validation (no PII)
- Sentry: error reports and performance data for application monitoring
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained while SmartFeed is installed on your Shopify store and your Google account is connected.
- Uninstallation: When you uninstall SmartFeed from your Shopify store, we delete your store data, product data, and associated OAuth tokens within 30 days.
- Google disconnect: If you disconnect your Google account, we immediately revoke the OAuth tokens and delete cached Google account data.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data storage, secure HTTPS connections for all API communications, and restricted access to production systems. OAuth tokens are stored encrypted and are never logged or exposed in error reports.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about your store
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data by uninstalling the app or contacting us
- Disconnect: Revoke Google account access at any time from the app settings or from your Google Account permissions
